It's a wild and woolly ride involving four different versions of Pitch Black and a very
different version of Jack Frost, all of whom either room together or "fraternize" in a
college / university AU.

Series Begun: 2018-02-08 Series Updated: 2018-10-20 Description: A spin-off of my Tales of Nightmare Dork University series, focusing on family members,
past and present, of our NDU boys.
4] Footlights and Frontispieces, Monsters and Manifolds
Series Begun: 2018-10-20 Series Updated: 2019-01-20 Description: Another offshoot of the Tales of Nightmare Dork University, set in the future.
Notes: In this AU, Piki Black and Jack Sickle are married and dividing their time between Manhattan
and upstate New York. They have a daughter, Emily Sickle Black, who will eventually become
a volcanologist, and will have a daughter of her own named Zilpha.Piki is a successful playwright, and spends six weeks each summer running a youth theater
workshop in Rotsblok Falls, 185 miles north of New York City.Jack has quite a few years of early elementary school teaching under his belt and eventually
becomes the author of the children's book series ARTHROPOD ABBEY, illustrated by his and
Piki's niece, entomologist Seraphina Pitchiner.Also in this AU, Pitch Black and Coz Pitchiner reunited after a long separation, during which
time Coz did military service and had a surrogate bear a daughter for him, unbeknownst to
Pitch. After a lot of soul-searching, Pitch accepted Seraphina as his own daughter and the
three became a family.A series of lucky breaks led Pitch to a career as a horror novelist and sought-after
screenwriter, which helped tone down the rivalry between himself and Piki.After Coz left the military, he took some of the skills he'd learned there to open his own
garage and automotive repair service, which gave him a good enough income that he didn't
feel he was leeching off Pitch. At a later point, for a lark, he answered an ad to teach a night
course in military history at a community college's adult education program, and shockingly
found he was good at it, surprised that his NDU degree was useful for something.Pitch and Coz did not formally marry until Seraphina was seven. They live in the rowhouse
Coz inherited from his maternal grandparents in Isherwood, a NYC suburb.Proto, as always, is an unknown quantity. What he did after NDU remains to be seen.

1] COMPLETE - “Realize”, a BenneFrost promptfic for @nose-nippin-fun. Aged-up Jamie Bennett as a older mortal in love with an immortal Jack Frost, and vice versa.
2] IN PROGRESS - “Missed It By THAT Much”, set in the same ‘verse/timeline as “Realize”, but a few decades earlier. Jack has to deal with his feelings about his boyfriend spending time with someone else, even if that someone is involved with Jamie for purely professional reasons.
3] COMPLETE - “P.I.T.C.H. 2095″ - written for @rotg-goc-events for Fave Ship Week. A dieselpunk AU about a thoughtful present from an elder sibling to cheer a younger sibling after a bad breakup.
4] COMPLETE - “All Hallows Eels” - written for the #blackicecostumeparty challenge at @blackiceweek. Summary: You wouldn’t think costumes with a theme would be Pitch Black’s thing… at least, not in public.
5]IN PROGRESS- “A Citizen Of The Universe And A Gentleman To Boot” - inspired by “Learning To See” by @emeralddawn13. Summary: Jamie Bennett’s mother attempts to befriend Pitch Black.
6] COMPLETE - “A Temptation Averted”, a Guardian!Pitch AU BlackIce gift fic for @miss-evening, based on the prompt “ Person A is in bed reading a book. Person B enters and climbs into bed with them. Without looking up person A raises their arm so that person B can crawl under and snuggle up with them. Person B falls asleep. “
7] PLOTTED / NOT YET WRITTEN - “Fear-Water Tea” - a bit of fluph wherein Pitch brews a once-a-year special tea, an homage to OWL AT HOME by Arnold Lobel, inspired by and springboarding off a sketch request done for me by @guardian-of-da-gay..
8] PLOTTED / NOT YET WRITTEN - “Not In Songs Of Earth” - a tale of North and Jack, operating independently of one another, set within the timeframe of a Victorian children’s book called THE BIRDS’ CHRISTMAS CAROL by Kate Douglas Wiggin.

2] COMPLETE - “Somewhere Deep Inside Of These Bones” - written from an askmeme prompt from @bowlingforgerbils requesting some NDU StageFright. Blurb: Piki cluelessly does the right thing for Jack for ENTIRELY the wrong reasons.
3] COMPLETE - “Somnos Scherzo” [originally titled “The Somnos Gavotte”] - a Nightmare Dork University story dealing with Piki Black’s sleeping habits.
4] COMPLETE-ISH/SEMIPLOTTED - “Mullioned Pains” - a Nightmare Dork University story in four parts centering around Pitch Black and his migraines. At least two of the parts may get expanded into their own tales.
5] COMPLETE: “To Fall Down At Your Door” - a Nightmare Dork University story set in Pitch and Pitchiner’s final year, and the clock is ticking for both of them towards graduation.
6] COMPLETE - “Meat And Poison - a Nightmare Dork University gift fic for @lindzem wherein Jack Sickle takes up a new hobby which disturbs Piki greatly.

Spoiler alert... there WILL be giant robot spiders and sentient laser beams. Eventually. [seriously, this story is the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to write]
2] COMPLETE - “As The Silver Planets Run” - a gift fic for @piratekingpitchblack as a @rotgsecretsanta exchange. The Nightmare King cannot and will not live without the Boogeyman, and channels some Solstice magick.

Dr, Black knows exactly who will give the kitten a good permanent home.... his fifteen-year-old godson, Pitch. I am thinking of writing a POV “flip” version from the POVs of The Eighth Doctor and of Annelle Deauville-Sands, Dr. Black’s wife.

3] STARTED/ STILL IN DRAFT MODE - Several stories in a Nightmare Dork University AU setting I call “Footlights and Frontispieces”. Far-future NDU stories for the WinterNight pairing, with Piki and Jack having their chosen careers influence the younger generation. Hoping this will become a collaborative effort with the folks who still create NDU fiction and art. There is a story-within-the-story that deals with the NsectDU milieu as an existing series of books called ARTHROPOD ABBEY.
4] STARTED / STILL IN DRAFT MODE - A verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry late BlackSand birthday fic for @emeraldembers based on the very first story she ever wrote.
5] STARTED / STILL IN DRAFT MODE - “Capable”, a nearish-future Nightmare Dork University short story focusing on a conversation between Piki and Pitchiner, after Coz comes back from military service and reunites with Pitch, but before Jack returns to Piki.
And my favourite yarn vendor only has two skeins left… sob.
Two skeins makes only one scarf, and I know that I have more than one follower who loves Nightmare Galleon as much as I do.
I’ll see when the order comes in about contacting the manufacturer about the lot number.

The trip north on State Route 22 never failed to impress travellers with its beauty, even those travellers who had homes there in its hamlets. It was a pleasure to look at in all seasons: the starkness of winter, autumn glory, emerging spring. Now it was full summer, and a treat in all its greenness, the road's curves harmoniously nestled in the hillsides.
Jack took over the second leg of the four-hour drive from Manhattan to Rotsblok Falls. Piki was deft at navigating their midsized car out of the city, whether in snow or heat, but his concentration tended to turn into tension around Poughkeepsie. The happy discovery of Bell’s Deli on one of their earliest trips years ago had led to a ritual halfway point to stop, rest, and eat on their way to their vacation home.
The two girls in the backseat had succumbed to the notorious "Deli Belly" food coma, and were blissfully quiet, each engaged in her own pursuits... Emily glued to the window, mentally cataloging the age of each and every rock formation they passed, and making entries on her handheld... Sera sketching away madly, seemingly ignoring the countryside but trapping every detail in ink on paper.
Miles flying by under the tires and quiet music on the car radio contrived to put Piki in a relaxed enough state that he actually fell asleep in the passenger seat. Jack smiled at the sight; with one hand he carefully removed Piki's sunglasses and laid them on the seat between them. His husband's mighty nose pointed at the sky, the lines of his face falling into gentler formations... Jack reminded himself never to take these glimpses of happiness for granted.
Just before 7pm, they pulled into the gravelled driveway.
